Welcome to September, 2014

As the summer months flew by we enjoyed two wonderful local events. The staff of Equality Maryland and Free State Legal joined us at our First Friday reception at Tree of Life Gallery in August.  In July, the Social Justice Committee of UUCR gave a presentation featuring a local panel and Mariette Pathy Allen highlighting Trans topics in the news as well as her new book, TransCuba.  Thanks to all who helped make these events happen…what a treat!
Please join us next week, Tuesday September 16 at 7 pm as we begin our fall monthly meetings with a discussion of the changes taking place in our local schools.  Several of our friends will have participated in the Kent County High School “Challenge Day” also on September 16th.   There will be plenty to share as we also help our youth implement their plans for the new Gay Straight Alliance, which is based at the school for the first time this fall.  We will also have time for socializing, announcements and make plans for support meetings.  The meeting will be held at UUCR, 914 Gateway Drive, Chestertown.  EVERYONE is welcome!  Call 443 480 3138 if you have questions.

This month is the launch a new version of our website!  Maybe you are reading this post on it! (Also note we had to change to .com from .org.) Sign up on the right hand sidebar to be notified of new posts!...eventually the mass emails will disappear as we transition everyone to using our webpage for news and postings.
Welcome to www.PFLAGChestertown.com.
The calendar tab holds info about chapter events and other area events such as one being sponsored by Washington College this month. The first is also happening on Sept 16 in the afternoon before our monthly chapter meeting. Hear Mark Doty, poet and author, speak at the Lit House.

As we get more organized look for more posts and opportunities listed on this calendar as well as on our Facebook page.  We hope your fall is off to a great start.  Thanks to YOU, our pflag volunteers, our chapter is doing well. We have some exciting new initiatives to explore and develop in the "school year" ahead!  Stay tuned!
